i have several broken teeth would dentist be prepared to treat me under sedation on the NHS

Q. I have asthma and I am also diabetic I have several broken teeth which I am concerned about as I work in a public facing job. Several of the teeth would need to be removed. As I gagg when I am at the dentist I have not been for sometime. Would a dentist be prepared to treat me under sedation on the NHS. Some people are saying due to the asthma I may have to be referred to the hospital? Please advise me on this matter as I do not know what to do.

A. If you wished  sedation for treatment then you would have to see a dental surgeon who is qualified in carrying out iv sedation. Unfortunately there are not many surgeons who would carry this out on the NHS.

Im a 19 year old who is petrified of going to the dentist. the last time i went was in 2003. My mouth is in a pretty bad state, two of my teeth at the back are rotten(beyond repair in my opinion) some of my lower back teeth need fillings and im pretty sure i need a root canal as i am in pain. I am too embarrassed to speak to my parents about this and with limited funds. Finally, i would like to be sedated as much as i can as just the thought of the dentist starts to make me panic. what are the best options open to me?

On NHS band 2 is £49 on nhs for wisdom tooth removal, would sedation be covered on this cost? or would I have to pay extra for the sedation at the clinic?

It sounds like you may qualify for NHS treatment so try to find a local dentist who can help you out.

A good dentist won’t judge you so ask your friends for a recommendation. you may want to find one that offers sedation to help you through the more complex appointments. Payment plans vary so speak to the dentist before to see what they offer.
