I have lost my self esteem after having a bridge knocked out I just want my teeth back

Q. I am 35 years old and for the last 15 years i have had a bridge for 5 front teeth that i had beaten out of me so to speak but lately i am getting very depressed about this, i have no self esteem, i dont like smiling, i wont socialise anymore. I asked my dentist is there anything they can do and all they can do is make another bridge, i dont want another on, i just wish i had my old teeth again, please help me.

A. When you have missing teeth you have 3 options to have them replaced:

1. A denture
2. A bridge
3. Implants

In your case implants may be the best option provided you have good bone present to put them in and you have healthy gums. Often if you do have problems in these areas you still can have implants placed but require some extra preparation work of the area ( such as bone or gum grafts) before you can have the implants placed.

On the other hand , as you have a bridge already a replacement is a viable option- nowadays they can be made very realistic. Please discuss with your dentist these ideas and if they don’t offer such treatment ask for a referral to a dentist who would undertake implants.
