I have heard of crowns coming off but

Q. I have heard of crowns coming off, but I have had a crown for about 18 years and it broke at dinner tonight. Is this normal, to break? Also, is it going to cost as much as an original crown to replace? Anything I should ask my dentist? On average how much less is a replacement vs. the original? Thank you for your time, I appreciate it very much.

A.

All dentistry fails in the end, 18 years is OK.

The cost will depend on the quality of the tooth left behind & NHS or Private. A replacement crown costs the same as a new crown as the work is broadly the same.
