I have healthy teeth but want veneers

Q. Hello, I have recently visited the dentist as I am conscious about the gaps I have between my four front teeth and I was wondering what options I had to fix this. However the dentist said that my teeth are really healthy and that I should think carefully before getting veneers and he suggested a brace which I don’t want. The rest of my teeth are great and have no gaps and are very straight. People who I know say I dont need anything doing with the front 4 teeth but I feel it would make me more confident. I have just looked on the net and found out about lumineers. Please give me your advice.Thankyou.

A.  The 2 main ways for fixing gaps are via orthodontics or veneers ( sometimes crowns) .  The best option for healthy teeth is orthodontics - some braces are virtually invisible such as invisalign. If this is still unacceptable then veneers would be the next best thing.  Lumineers are just a brand name for a company who makes veneers.  All veneers can be made very thin but the majority of cases do require some tooth removal to produce a great result.  They will probably require replaceing within the next 10 to 15 years - possibly longer if your bite is not traumatic.
