i have had porcelain veneers on my front four teeth

Q. i have had porcelain veneers on my front four teeth since i was about 12. I am unhappy with the appearance of my smile. I have gaps and a bit of an over bite. I was told by a dentist that before he could give me new veneers i would need braces to bring my teeth closer together, but many of the orthodontists i have seen say i would have to have the veneers removed and have braces on my teeth underneath. Is it possible to wear any sort of brace on top of veneers? Thanks!

A. It can be done but the problem is bonding the brackets of the fixed brace to the veneers.  You may need an inside ( lingual ) brace that can attach to the back of the teeth.
