I have had a new crown and now my tooth is very sensitive

Q. a crown fell off i have since had a new crown fitted but it is so sensitive i cannot eat or drink on it even cleaning it hurts my dentist wanted to remove the crown but could not so he has recommended that the tooth is removed i feel that this would not have had to be done if the dentist had not messed up the preparation of this tooth - baring in mind a crown had been in place for 20+ yrs

A. hi many thanks for your enquiry, i am not sure i quite follow, if he put a crown on then he should be able to take the crown off. i would have to question why the crown was not removed. it may be better to try to ask the dentist to try to remove the crown again to then sort out the underlying problem with the crown. before a drastic measure such as tooth extraction is done. hope this is helpful.
