I have gum disease and receeding gums do I need gum graft surgery

Q. Hi, I have recently experience some minor gum disease (as a result of poor advice from a previous dentist). The gum on my two front teeth has receeded quite badly both upwards and outwards leaving me with very large looking front teeth (they have always been slightly longer than my other teeth). I have done some research on gum graft surgery and don’t necessarily think the situation is severe enough for this, my dentist thinks they fine but I’m really upset by the way they look, is there anything else I can do, it’s making me really unhappy and I’m only 27

A. Hi V, many thanks for your enquiry. once the gums have receded there is very little that can be done to regain the gum line. The best option would be to have a gum graft procedure. This is however slightly unpredictable as we are unsure how the gum will take like any graft but as long as the body does not reject it. The result is generally favorable. Hope this is helpful.
