Q. I have bone loss of an 80 year old and i’m 46. On my back teeth the lower part of the teeth below the gum line is now visible. Apparently, I only have 40% bone holding my teeth. What is the best treatment for me for teeth that are coming loose? Thanks.

A. Hi You’ll need long term treatment with a gum specialist and hygienist, involving cleaning of the rots of the teeth. It may also be possible to use bone rebuilding techniques once the initial treatment has stabilised the condition

P.S. Always watch out where you are getting your ‘advice’ from. A surgeon will recommend surgery. A priest will recommend prayer….you get the picture….

I have extensive bone loss, and my teeth are considered hopeless. How can I find the best possible dentist for the major bone grafting that is required for implants. I am in the Lincolnshire area. How to go about researching this? Also are payment plans common, as I know this will be extremely costly? Thanking you.

  5. Lamont says:

You need to research a dentist in your area perhaps one with an implant qualification such as Dip Imp dent RCS. or an Msc in implant dentistry. You can then ask them about possible payment plans

.I have finally lost my front crown due to the post which has failed after 16 years. He is suggesting an implant for £2700,assuming no bone graft.Thin tissue and thin bone and receeding gums present. Is this a reasonable expenditure in the circs withmany years usage,I am 56 years

  7. Oscar says:

The implant could last 15-20 years + so should still represent good value compared to wearing a denture or a bridge
