I have been successfully treated for periodontal disease

Q. Hi, I have been successfully treated for periodontal disease which is now stable. However some black triangles have appeared. I am extremely depressed about this and cannot smile unselfconsciously. I have been advised that veneers or cosmetic bonding are options but am terrified of the disease starting up again. Obviously I would have regular hygiene visits and practice excellent homecare. I would really appreciate your input on this and also which, in your opinion, is the best option from a hygiene point of view.

A. Both options tend to make cleaning slightly more difficult. veneers are good for improving the overall shape and colour of the teeth producing a long lasting solution. I find cosmetic bonding excellent in situations where small spaces need filling and no other improvements are needed. Most important will be your regular visits with the hygienist and periodontist as well as impecable home cleaning
