I have been ill lately and unable to clean my teeth, which has eroded the enamel. I am scared to go to the dentist. Can you help me?

Q. I haven’t been to the dentist in a few years. The last dentist I saw was rude and hurt me alot over a simple fissure seal, and ignored me when i told him so. This has made me really nervous about seeing another dentist since then. In the last few weeks I have noticed some of my teeth are slightly sensitive and I have enamel wearing away on three of my top teeth near the gum line. I have always looked after my teeth so I realise I have to go to a dentist soon but I don’t really trust dentists anymore and was wondering if you had any idea what could be causing my enamel wearing away? I have problems with my stomach and tonsils the last year which means now and again I get very ill and throw up alot. Its since then that I have had problems with my teeth and thought it might be because I can’t brush my teeth well during these “ill times” very well as my throat swells and the slightest pressure on my throat makes me sick. I would just like an idea of what it could be before I pluck up the courage to see a dentist again. Thanks,
A. I would advise that you should book to see a dentist ASAP, I know you have been put off by your previous experience, but not all dentists are the same and they can be very sympathetic to their patients. If your enamel is wearing away, then it is probably as a result of the acid passing through your mouth each time you are unwell. You should visit a dentist before the enamel wears away to a severe point. A dentist will be able to advise you of how best to cope with this problem, rinsing with plain water directly after being sick would help a little. I hope this has been of help to you.

My teeth feel rough, it’s feels like the enamel has been removed. I brush my teetch twice a day (most of the time). I believe this happened as a result of me being sick recently, two days ago, and the stomach acids I brought up. It feels horrible, what can I do to resolve this?

I am enquiring about veneers. I recently chipped one of my front teeth. Onresearching veneers I notice there are different types including lingers and day Vinci veneers . I have a condition called osteopena and notice my teeth are thinning which I was part of reason my tooth chipped so easily. Whatwould be best solution in my case.
