I Have an Overbite. How Might This be Corrected?

Q.
Hello Dr Gambroudes, I’m wondering if you can give me some information. I have an overbite. How long do you think it would take to be corrected, and how exactly would it be corrected? Will it be painful? On the right side of my teeth, the upper teeth are overlapping the lower ones, while the lower ones are bent inwards. I only chew food on the left side and I always feel the tip of my tongue touching my upper front teeth. The front upper teeth are extremely overlapping the lower ones, in fact they are sticking out. Can this problem be easily treated? Thank you for any advice you can give!

Hello, thank you for getting in touch. It is likely that an orthodontic solution would be best for you, but I cannot comment with any certainty without seeing the exact situation. My advice is to seek an opinion after a thorough examination from an experienced specialist orthodontist. Modern orthodontic treatments vary in terms of treatment time depending on the patient and rarely cause much discomfort. Regards,  Marcus.
