I have an infection in my root after root canal treatment, what are my options?

Q. I had a root canal 2 years ago after an injury, but the dentist did manage to remove all the root and it become infected, and it took two further attempts to remove the root. I changed dentist after this, as I didnt feel confident with this particular surgeon. I later had further infection and was treated with antibiotics, and my new dentists suggested I go back to my original dentist, which I wan’t happy to do. I have pain and sensitivity when I have hot or cold drinks and try and bite into things. I have had further antibiotics but nothing has helped. What are my options?,
A. It is not possible to guarantee Root Canal teatments even specialist endodontists have a failure rate so there is no reason to return to the first dentist. The fact it has failed several times over a long period means that the future prognosis is poor and it might be wise to consider removal and replacement with an implant , bridge or denture. The Cold sensitivity may be another tooth reacting and I would advise having a good look at adjacent teeth. Hope This Helps for a further chat call 0121 643 0610
