I have a small hole in my teeth and i need filling are they available only in NHS

Q. I recently went to the dentist and she found a small hole on one of my teeth. She has x-rayed it to check for decay and told me to come back. I have a couple of questions.. I am going away for the whole summer and can’t get an appointment before i leave, is my tooth likely to get worse in this period of time? Also, im terrified of needles, and have been told dentists use them to give pain killers when doing fillings -is there any other way my dentist will be able to give me pain killers? (on the nhs) Lastly, I’m worried about the appearance of fillings, I’ve never had one before and don’t want the ones that appear black, are they the only ones available as an NHS treatment? Thanks very much for your time.

A. Hi
if a tooth has decay the proression of the decay will depend on numerous factors ,sugar in the diet, cleaning , extent of decay and time.
if there is little decay and you are conscientious it will likely be ok over the summer.
no you cannot have painkillers and you can only have a white filling privately.
if the filling is indeed quite small there is a chance of doing it without anaesthetic
