I have a small gap in between my two front teeth following brace treatment, will my retainer fix this?

Q.
Hi Doctor Moore. I had my train track braces removed a few years ago and very rarely wore my plastic removable retainers. My teeth have remained straight but I have a small gap between my front two teeth. Those could be caused by the fact I suck my thumb! I was wondering if I would need to have braces again to close the gap or if wearing my retainer again would close the gap? If I was to give up sucking my thumb would my teeth move again and close the gap? I really don’t want to go back to wearing braces again, would I maybe require a bonded retainer do you think? I can see the gap getting bigger every day and it is worrying me…Thank you for your help. Kind regards.

Hello, thanks for the questions and information. First off you should stop sucking your thumb then try the retainers, they probably won’t fit so you might need a new brace to close the gap. I hope this helps. Good luck.
