I have a shooting pain from a cracked molar, why is this happening?
Q.
I have 4 wisdom teeth that are not fully erupted and are impacted. they have been bothering me for about 3 years now. I have to wait to see a dentist for a month and i have an upper right cracked molar next to the wisdom tooth that also is painful.I have been experiencing sharp, electricity shooting pain throught the right side of my face and body out the cracked molar .What is going on to me? It happens out of the blue. I have told the dentist when I first saw him and he didnt answer to what I have asked him. I cant bare with the pain any longer. It is worst then giving birth to a child.

Dear Enquirer,
It sounds like the cracked tooth that is next to your wisdom tooth is deeply decayed or fractured and the nerve is involved, hence the shooting pain. You may require a routine treatment called a root canal treatment, which you can read more about on this site.
You should call your dentist and request an emergency appointment immediately.

Sunita

i have small chip in front tooth and would like advice
Good morning, What is the usual cost of a filling? and is there student discount?
Basically I just had a deep filling in my top right wisdom tooth, and still in pain 5 days later, my dentist said he might have hit the nerve and to call back if I am still in pain later, what does this mean?? will it just die down after a week or so or is it likely to just get worse? the other filling i had done stopped hurting by the next day, only thing that seems to stop this pain however is JD and i cant drink that 24/7!
