I Have a Painful Lump in My Mouth, What Should I Do?

Q.
I have a lump inside my mouth on the lower gum on my jaw. It feels really strange when I talk, eat and smile. It’s quite painful. The pain feels like shooting pains in a way. It also hurts if I bend my head to the left (the side the lump is on). Please help me, what should I do? I’m really worried in case it is a gum infection or cancer because I am young. I only found the lump 10 minutes ago but as soon I started having lunch the pain started. Thank you.

Thank you for your question. It sounds like an abscess and should be checked by your dentist as soon as possible. Kind regards, Mark.
