I Have A New Porcelain Bridge Which Feels Too High, What Should I Do?
Q.
I have just had a new porcelain bridge fitted (4/5 upper left) and although the dentist insisted the fit was good I knew it felt too high, after much drilling I said it was okay but would let it settle for a few days. I feel it is still too high and plan to return to my dentist ASAP however I would like to know
a.) Will the constant drill undermine the new bridge? b.) Should a cantilever bridge fit under the gum line like a crown? My brand new bridge looks like it has a small space between bridge and gum line toward the inner side of tooth but again the dentist said through looking at X-ray it was an excellent fit. Please advise me.

Hi, a bridge should fit against the gum but sometimes a little gap towards inside the mouth is good for cleaning as long as food doesn’t trap there. Grinding a bridge or a crown should be avoided, but a very little shouldn’t affect the longevity of the bridge. You should go back for some more adjustment if you are uncomfortable with it.
Thanks, Dr Hussein Shaffie.
