I have a metallic taste in my mouth, what could be the cause of this?

Q.
I have had a metallic taste on the front of my tongue and a dry upper pallette since Early Dec 2010. I can alleviate this during the day by chewing gum, but can’t do this at night when I need to sleep.. I suffer from recurring sore throats but don’t currently have one. My GP has reviewed my blood tests and they all came back normal. I did have a root canal work done in Oct 2010 and finished it off with a crown on Nov 2010. The crown is ceramic. A seperate dentist told me that there was nothing wrong with the work done. Where do I go from here
A.
Difficult to answer – changes in taste can be due to hormonal changes in you body and there may be no treatment available.

I had a root canal done on my upper left side back molar about two years ago. I haven’t been able to have it crowned unfortunately and I’m pretty sure part of it chipped recently. There isn’t really any pain but I have a gross metallic taste coming from that tooth. Is that normal? I plan on callling my dentist tomorrow. Thank you!
