I have a grade 2 mobility I need to get root canal done. Can i remove the tooth?

Q. Hi, I have a grade 2 mobility of UR5 following gum disease and bone loss. I need a root canal treatment on this tooth but due to bone loss there is high probability that I might actually lose the tooth altogether (according to my dentist). My question: could I ask for the tooth to be removed now, rather than waiting and would I still need a root canal? THankyou for your time in advance

A. If you remove the tooth then it won’t need a root canal treatment. It might be worth considering this now as the bone loss that may occur later might make replacement of the tooth with an implant more difficult in the future
