I have a dead tooth with a root filling in it
Q. I have a dead tooth with a root filling in it and it is brown in colour. This is one of my front two teeth. I have veneers on both of my front teeth but the one that is discoloured shows through the veneer. Is there any way of getting veneers that match in colour? Also I had this done privately 2 years ago and the veneer has broken and had to be replaced twice. Is this common as it is expensive and I have to pay to have it fixed.
A. Hi many thanks for your enquiry, if the tooth is too dark, then a veneer is not the right option for the tooth, it may be better to crown the tooth using a procera material as a veneer is too transparant where as the crown will block out the discoluration of the tooth. and then replace the other veneer as the material on the crown and veneer will be then the same and the colour match will be perfect. hope this is helpful. The cost of this treatment would be around £1200 – £2000 dependant on where you decide to get the work done.

My 6 year old son had a cavity removed and then capped. The cap popped off and the tood is dead. Is this truly a cause from the tooth dying? Could bacteria have got under the cap and created infection causing the tooth to die?
