I Had To Stop My Cosmetic Dental Work Halfway Through Due To Unseen Circumstances. Would I Qualify For NHS Crowns?

Q.
Hello Andrew. I started cosmetic dental work around 18 months ago and had my front 6 teeth filed and temporary’s put on. Due to unforeseen financial circumstances I couldn’t afford to go ahead with the treatment and I still have these temporary’s on, almost two years later. I’m embarrassed to see the dentist as it’s been so long and my gum are pretty red also. Would I qualify for NHS crowns as I have an exemption card or would this still be seen as cosmetic? Thanks.
A.
Hello. It depends, only your dentist can answer this so go back and see what they say. It sounds like it would still be considered cosmetic, but it’s difficult to say without seeing you in person and knowing which treatment you require. You may want to find a experienced dentist you offers a payment plan of some kind to pay in instalments. Try to find a dental professional you feel comfortable with. I hope this helps you. Kind regards, Dr Andrew Moore.
