I Had Private Dental Bridge Treatment 25 Years Ago, Can I Have It Replaced Through The NHS?

Q.
Hi Doctor Moore, I have had a dental bridge for 25 years replacing six of my top teeth in all, 2 of my front teeth are missing and the bridge is supported by 2 other teeth on either side and 2 fake teeth in the centre. I am very lucky that the bridge has lasted so long but I feel that it is coming to the end of its life. I can’t afford the almost £3000 it will cost to replace (it cost me £600 private 25 years ago) so what will be my alternative? Can I get a NHS bridge to replace the one I had done privately? I don’t know what else I can do, I simply cannot afford the £3000 in one go, unless some sort of funding arrangement or finance scheme can be arranged. Thank you ever so much for any advice you can give to me, I’m at a loss now.

Hi, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, you may struggle to find a dentist who will provide this on the nhs. Maybe you can try and keep it there until you have the funds? If not a removable denture might be your only option I’m afraid. I hope this helps. Regards, Andrew.
