I had braces years back and now crooked should i get braces fixed again?

Q. Hi Dr Andrew Moore My teeth started to move only a few months after i had finished six months of wearing a removable brace and before this a fixed brace and night brace during a year and a half. This was when i was about ten , i am 38 now,my front teeth are quite big compared to what my baby teeth were like and so i have always had a problem with over crowding. As my teeth are quite crooked at the front, they over lap, do you think i would benifit from having a removable or fixed brace again could it help to straighten my front teeth or would my teeth end up crooked again. My bottom teeth are also crooked but i did not have a brace as i was told at the time that my teeth would eventualy straighten out but this did not happen. Thank you for your time and help

A. Hi Yes a new brace, probably fixed, would help but it would be essential for long-term, possibly permanent, retention afte the treatment has been completed. We often use a bonded retainer at my clinic to hold teeth permanently after the orthodontics has been completed.
