I had all my teeth removed how long does it take to get dentures?

Q. Dear Dr. I had all of my top teeth removed how long dose it take to get my dentures?

A. Having dentures made from scratch takes several appointments. Your dentsi will need to make sure that all of the soft tissues have settled before your dentures are made- I take it that you DO have some teeth as a temorary measure? Your gums will take several weeks to settle around the extraction site- then you will need to have ‘impressions’ taken of your mouth. The stages after tat will consist of getting your bite correct and making sure that you like the way the teeth look and the colour etc.
Any queries, and you really need to consult the dentist under-taking your case.

I am 38 years old and unfortunately I had to go with my dentists advice reluctantly and have all my teeth removed. I understand I should have looked after them more but I have suffered from depression and did not consider remembering to brush my lovely white teeth I once had. Now I have had all my teeth removed my dentist fitted and re-adjusted my denture, but told me it would take 4 months to let my gums settle before getting new ones. I still cannot wear the set I was given, I am due to go back in November as that will be 4 months, but I have no confidence to go to interviews to look for work and feel I cannot wait this long. My gums are healing but what can I do, I only want to feel like I can smile again. Please advise me on what to do. Angela
