I had a tooth pulled, would I be suitable for an implant?

Q.
I was having issues with a recent root canal and decided to have it pulled instead of going through re-treatment and possibly oral surgery. The permanent crown had not yet been placed, and I was wondering if it could be used instead for an implant. My dentist was not optimistic that it would work, but he was very unhappy with my decision at all. I’d really like a second opinion.

Thank you!!

The space will need to be assessed for suitability , but in general they are a popular solution to missing teeth.
the existing crown will not be salvaged to use with the implant.
