I Had A Crown Fitted Two Weeks Ago. It’s Started Throbbing And Feels Sensitive. Is This Indicative Of Dental Infection?

Q.
Hello Dr Hughes. Approximately a week ago I had a crown fitted. At first it felt heavy, but I thought that was normal and it would settle down. Two days ago the crown started to hurt and felt sensitive to touch. Furthermore, biting on it is out of the question due to the pain. There is also an intermittent throbbing sensation. I have taken pain killers and that has helped. Do you think it’s possible the throbbing sensation is indicative of infection? I need some advice regarding this. Thank you for your time.
A.
Thank you for getting in touch with me. Based on what you’ve told me it sounds like it could be an infected root canal issue. Go back to your dentist immediately to have the problem investigated and diagnosed. In the meantime if you’d like more information on dental infection treatment and root canal treatment you can find it through this website. I hope this helps to clarify your situation. Kind regards, Mark.
