i had 2 root canals and now have chronic infection in all of them could my dentist be a fault

Q. Last year I had 4 replacement crowns fitted (for cosmetic reasons) and 2 new root canals I now have chronic infection in all, The old crowns with 1 post were in for 25 years with no problems could my dentist be at fault?

A. Hi
unfortunately when any tooth that has had a long standing post is disturbed infections can flare. this also applies to any root canal.your dentist is not at fault but you should have had an explanation that this may occur when you made the choice.in most cases where the crowns have been on the teeth for so long the underlying tooth is quite weak and rone to the need for root canal treatment
