Q. Hi I have no teeth and wear dentures at the moment. I am 64 years old and had all my teeth removed about 10 years ago due to gingervitous gum disease. Would i qulifty for dental implants Kind regards
A. HI
Thanks for your question. You MAY be a good candidate for implants- but is hard for me to say without seeing you in person. Dental implants can only be placed if you have enough bone to place them into. For this, you will need a CT scan which not only shows the height of bone, but also the width (think of it as a 3D xray)
As it was aprox 10 yrs ago since you had the teeth taken out, it is probably fair to say that you wil have a degree of bone loss. There are further options that can be adressed such as bone grafts and bilateral sinus lifts which can also be done. I would highly recommend a consultation with an implantologist to see what your options are. I understands that dentures are often uncomfortable and can be quite embarassing. I would be mre than happy to see you at any of the kissdenatl practices around the Manchester area- or aternatively, I would be happy to recommend a surgeon in your area.
Good luck and hope all goes well.
