I Fractured My Teeth When I Was Young And Now The Cracks Are Opening. Could You Offer Me Advice On How To Sort Them Out?

Q.
Hello Dr Hughes. When I was a child I was involved in an accident and got run over by a lorry as I hit the ground I landed on my chin braking my jaw both sides and cracking a lot of my teeth. As I was only young and it was hair-line fractures through my teeth I was told there was nothing they could do. But now as an adult and after losing a few teeth all the cracks are opening and it’s only going to get worse. I was a heavy smoker and coffee drinker but I have given them up. Please could you offer some advice as to how I go about sorting them out.

Hello. Thank you for getting in touch. It’s difficult to tell you exactly what is needed without seeing you in person. You could possibly consider composite bonding or porcelain veneers? This website has pages dedicated to these treatments. Try to find out what they involve and then seek a consultation with an experienced dentist in your area. I hope this helps you for now. Best wishes, Mark.
