I feel very sick after being under local anaesthetic, any advice?

Q. Dear Dr Moore I find myself in the situation where i need alot of dentistry in the next comming years. But the last four times i was anesthetized locally i suffered severe sickness for a few days to a week later… very specific symptoms, aching, stomach problems, fatigue. i not feel much dental pain afterwards. I seem to have a high pain threshold – nor am i scared of the dentists chair and i am always very relaxed during the procedures so i do not feel this is psychological or a shock reaction. i have tried to discuss this with my dentist but they do not take my concerns on board. it fills me with dread to think of repeatedly having this experience. do you have any advice on this matter? Many Thanks.

A. You maybe having a reaction to the local, it might be worth your dentist using a non-adrenaline anaesthetic call Citanest it might help.

Please help….I’ve done searches on the net and cannot find any answers.
My problem is that I feel very ill about 5 minutes after being given local anaesthetic at my dentist. I’m not at all scared of the dentist and this has only happened during my last 3 dental treatments. My dentist also recommended trying a non adrenaline injection, but this also made me feel sick.
In fact, at my last appointment, I passed out in the chair, causing much panic for the dentist.
Once given the anaesthetic, I feel absolutely no pain, and he rcommended that I have sedation, but I don’t have a phobia, I just feel very ill ….although I am now beginning to worry as I have not been to a dentist for 3 years due to the embarrassment. I hope you can offer advise as I now am desperate to get my teeth sorted out soon. Thanks
