I Feel Silly Going Back To My Dentist A Third Time, Why Didn’t My Dentist Polish It When I Went Back A Second Time?

Q.
Earlier this week I had two top front crowns replaced however when I got home I realised that one crown was longer on one site. I went back the next day and my dentist filed some of the crown down , a little too much if I’m being honest but he made me feel so silly for coming back I did not feel like I could say anything so I just left.

The problem is the filed tooth feels so rough and sharp and I am constantly aware of it when I talk as it rubs on my upper lip and tongue, but I feel too silly to go back again. My question is should my dentist have polished my tooth or something else in order to smooth it out? Thank you.

A.
Hi – it is quite normal to have to adjust or re-contour a crown after it is fitted. The roughness that you are noticing can easily be polished out with a special bur and shouldn’t take your dentist more than a few minutes. I would suggest contacting your dentist and arranging an appointment to have the crown polished, and I am sure they really won’t mind doing it. I hope this is helpful. Regards Marcus.

Thank you very much for your answer, that is very helpful. I will give them a call. I only hope that it can be done without taking anymore of the Lengh of it as I think they have already taken a little bit too much off.

Thanks again
