I chipped my two front teet about 8 years ago

Q. I chipped my two front teet about 8 years ago and I have had them capped but because I grind my teeth a lot the caps are continuously being worn and chipped. I have a night guard but they are still really noticable when I smile. How can I fix this?

A.

You need to go to a dentist that has a knowledge of occlusion. This is the study of how teeth bite together and function in relation to the muscles and the joint. You may not actually be a grinder. If you were there would be wear facets on your posterior teeth as well or your bite guard would have marks characteristic of grinding on the surface.
It could be that the crowns were placed in a position that interfere with your chewing cylces and the chipping and wear is happening for this reason. It is very difficult to diagnose the problem without examing you. If you live within traveling distance of my pravtice I would be happy to see you for a consultation but if not then please follow my advice in finding an appropriate dentist
Kind regards

Hi, I had a fall this may and had several of my teeth chipped off aprt from having my lower jaw fractured at multiple places. Its bee almost seven moths now. The jaw has healed and I have had 6 unit bridge on the upper right side. 4 unit on the bottom right side and 4 unit on the upper left side apart from having single crowns on lower front 5 and 2 on the bottom left. 22 in all. Sounds horrible but so far all has gone well.I brush twice daily and use a mouth wash aswell. I however have a few concerns; firslty is there any special toothpaste that i need to use. Secondly I have some sensitivity and pain in the gum between the two crowns on the bottom left while eating. Is it something natural and will it disaapear with the passage of time?
