I Cannot Place Any Pressure On My Back Tooth Without Causing It Pain, Is It Infected?

Q.
Hi Doctor Hughes. I wondered if you could help me with something? Well, a few weeks ago I had the gap between 2 back teeth bridged to prevent food from accumulating there. I was constantly flossing to remove food .I still cannot put any pressure on back tooth without pain. I was told I have infection & have been on antibiotics for almost 20 days now. Will the pain ever go away & do you think I could still have infection or do you think that something else is going on? Thank you for any help you can offer.

Hello and thank you for your question. There could be several things going on. You could posiibly have an infection in your tooth that requires a root canal treatment or it could be a problem related to your bite? In order to diagnose your problem you would need to be examined in person so I would suggest you go back to the dentist who provided your treatment or seek a second opinion, maybe from an endodontist (root canal specialist) as soon as possible

Kind regards

Mark
