I ave a problem with my bite but can anything be done?

Q. I am 55years old and when I was younger chewed alot of gum which resulted in me having problems with my jaw and my bottom teeth going right under the top teeth I find closing my mouth painful most of the time and wondered if there is anything can be done to help, my dentist says the bottom teeth are in line, what do you think.,
A. Gum chewing is unlikely to be the cause of your problem. Your pain is likely to be either muscular or a physical problem with your jaw joint. You need to seek out a dentist who can diagnose TMJ dysfunction
