I am really interested Lingual braces

Q. I am really interested Lingual braces I just turnt 18 and was wondering if this treatment would cost me. The problem is my front teeth slightly come forward and I have small gaps between the teeth next to my front teeth. As I am 18 and in full time education I am really worried about the cost.

A. Hi

Thre are number of options available to close gaps or straighten teeth

1. conventional ortho
2. lingual braces
3. invisable braces
4. six months ortho
etc

It is difficult to give an exact costing without looking at the mouth, but prices can range from £2000 to £4000 depending on complexity of the case.

I was given a mouth guard about 3 months ago because i grind my teeth at night, it was getting pretty bad and i’m sure my bite has been affected by it. my question is…can i have lingual braces if i need a mouth guard? would it be possible to wear them both at the same time? i think i have what is known as a crossbite so really want to get this fixed asap. thanks for your time.

Yes you can have lingual appliances but you will not be able to wear the mouth guard during this time. However as tooth movement begins, you should grind your teeth less as the teeth will become tender and the bite improves. You will need to be assessed for suitability of wearing a lingual appliance first. Hope this helps!

I have recently gone to a Orthodontist as even though having braces as a teenager my two front teeth are protruding and I also have a gap in them. The Orthordontist said that the STb social 6 brace that I want is not designed to push back protruding teeth it only allows for teeth to be pushed out. I will need an extended 10 brace for leverage, to push them back…does this sound feasible as I have been advised otherwise? Also do you think the Simpli 5 will be able to fix my teeth? Kind Regards

Its hard for me to give you specifics without seeing you as all types of braces do different things, I would find an orthodontist you trust and let them decide the best type for your case.
