I am looking for some advice on crown replacement.

Q. Hi I am looking for some advice on crown replacement, My upper 4 front teeth had crowns fitted approx 10 years, I am not happy with the colour of my teeth or the shape of the existing crowns and was considering having them replaced. Is there a considerable risk in having the old crowns removed? Thanks for your help.
A. Removing the crowns in most cases is a straightforward job however a proper assessment with x-rays is required before this is carried out to make sure the roots of the teeth are healthy enough for the new crowns

I had to have a porcelain crown removed. I was appalled at how this was done. The dentist used what seemed like a long metal rod that attached around the crown and banged on to my crown 4 times. I thought my real tooth underneath was going to shatter. It was like getting hit by a sledge hammer. Is this the right procedure for removal of a crown?

This is one of the procedures that can be used but there are other ways to remove them much more comfortably!

My current dentist has advised me that a rear left side lower molar has toomuch filling to enable a crown to be fitted. Before allowing an extractionI would like a second opinion. Please advise how much you would charge. Iam currently with Denplan.

I have a dental implant. The crown on the backside is showing metal. Is this the inside of the crown that has lost the porcelain? And is this a result of something wrong with my implant? I have my implant on no9 tooth, so the aesthetics of my tooth is very important. I have had this implant for almost 9 years. I would like more information on this, because I am not sure if I got a shotty crown in the first place, or if it is due to my implant. I had bone grafting done with my implant , and it has given me a lot of problems with cleaning the gum tissue with such a wide space between crown and bone., etc

You often have metal on the inside of a crown and it really doesn’t show most of the time. get it checked just in case

I have just lost a crown and my tooth has broken of at the gum line. The pin of the crown is still stuck in the root. My dentist said that because of these circumstances he cannot remove the tooth (I’m on denplan and this would be covered) but I have to go to the dental surgery and pay £280 for the extraction and consultation. Please could I have your opinion. Thank you very much!
