I Am In The Final Few Weeks Of Braces Treatment But My Orthodontist Keeps Putting It Back. What Should I Do?

Q.
Hello Dr Moore. I am 61 and have had braces for 3 years following periodontal treatment. My NHS orthodontist sees me every 8 to 10 weeks. My teeth are getting straight and she is closing the gaps. She is closing the gaps but I seem to be going round in circles. After a few weeks it looks like the teeth are finally in place but then other teeth move which shouldn’t. I also think that my appointments are too long in between. Each time I go I am told that in my next visit they will be removed and it’s getting frustrating now. What should I do?

Hello and thank you for getting in touch. This is a matter you need to discuss this with your orthodontist, I understand it can be a little frustrating when the treatment is near completion but I’m sure you would like your teeth to be perfectly straight before they take them off. It’s also important to wear your retainer to prevent the teeth from relapsing after treatment. Kind regards, Dr Andrew Moore.
