I am having problems with bone loss due to severe periodontal disease

Q. I am having problems with bone loss due to severe periodontal disease. What are my options as far as dentures or implants?

A. The first thing that you need to do is to have the periodontal disease treated. You are putting your self at risk from more bone loss, tooth loss and systemic problems due to the potency of the bacteria present in your mouth. Implants may be possible but their placement does depend on how much bone is present. Therefore the quicker the periodontal disease is resolved, the more bone you will have left for implant palcement.
Dentures are also an option to replace your missing teeth. The stability of your dentures also depends on the amount of bone you have left.
Please have a consultation with a dentist that has a hygienist as part of the team. It is best to have the treatment carried out privately
