I am considering a smile makeover but would like to know if I can find a suitable denture first, which ones are available to me?

Q.
Hi. I have had peridontal disease and had it treated and suffered extreme gum recession, in particular over the front 4 teeth. I also have a a wire that is holding my front teeth in place and this wire is “in filled”. I absolutely hate my smile as my teeth look very long and have gaps in the top where this is no gum there. I really think I would like to have a cosmetic makeover and have the front 4 teeth removed. I am always told “hang on to your teeth as long as you can” but if you have a horrible smile you dont want too. I also wear a small partial denture on the top as I had two teeth removed at the back of my mouth. I would have a denture, but I dont want those thick ones – are there any other types on the market?
A.
Hanging onto the teeth is only a good idea if they are healthy and look fine. Leaving teeth like this will probably make replacing them difficult, (especially if you’re thinking of implants). A denture could be a good solution you could consider a chrome denture as this would have minimal coverage of the roof of your mouth.
