I Am Ashamed Of My ‘Goofy’ Teeth, Can I Get Veneers On The NHS?

Q.
I’ve been unhappy with my teeth for 8 nearly 9 years, once I started secondary school I got bullied because of them, the main name i got called was goofy, and now when I show my teeth I place my tongue over them so no one can see them, for many years I’ve been depressed over them. It has severely knocked my confidence but now it has come to the point where I wanna get them sorted and after researching thoroughly it seems veneers are the best way to get them sorted. I’m not the richest of people as i’m on maternity leave. I was wandering if id be able to get the veneers on the NHS?
A.
Hello, thank you very much for your question. It is a common thing to be embarrassed about and as dentists we see and hear about this problem all of the time, so do not be worried. It can be rectified, however I don’t think you can get veneers on the NHS but you could ask your regular dentist when you see him for a check up before the maternity cert runs out.
