I am a diabetic can I get dental implants on nhs

Q. i am a diabetic with autonomic neuropathy. this illness has crumbled all my back teeth, the rest are constanty needing attention. my dentist has advised me to get dentures due to infections. i am only 42, i am devistated. normal dentures are not practical due to constant vomiting. i read on the net that mini implants with dentures suit diabetics and are much cheaper than normal implants. can you tell me how secure these are and give me a ball park figure for top and bottom mini implants with a full set of realistic looking teeth.also, would the teeth required for mini implants be avaliable on the n.h.s.

A. It is unlikely that you would be able to get this treatment onthe NHS.  Mini implants have been around for only a few years and the research on their long term effectiveness is limited.  Unfortunately IU have no experience of using this type of implant - I certainly would favour a standard type of implant with the current knowledge available.
