How to overcome fear of dentist?
Q. Hi ive not been to a dentist for years as im so frightend just the thought makes me so nervous my teeth are realy bad and there getting worse most of them have broken and i no im going to have do something about it but im just to scared and dont no where to start, i used go to a dentist for nervous patients when i was around 12 and am 23 now, please could you give me some help, its realy affecting my confidence, and my job as i work with the public and im ashamed and realy want to have nice teeth, im frightend im going to loose them all, please help
A. To get to the dentist try some relaxation audio books etc. ring a few dentists to find out if the receptionist is helpful. agree to have a examination only ( just looking)try not to stress the examination remember it is only looking. onc the dentist has some idea you can arrange how to manage treatment. Tablet sedatives taken beforehand will help you make it to the appointment. some practices also offer sedative injections for concentrated and deep relaxation during treatment. costs do vary for this. call 01216430610 for details.
