How much are braces and can I get them from the NHS?

Q.
Hi, my right front tooth is in front of the other and have a bad overbite. Also some of my teeth are in front of each other and either too long or crooked. I am on income based job seekers allowance, am I entitled to free braces and if yes which ones. What would be the rough estimated time that I would have to wear the brace for? I’m 21. Thank you
A.
Braces are not normally available for free to adults on the NHS. I’d suggest you seek a consultation with an orthodontist or dentist who does a lots of orthodontic treatments. You can often find a dentist who will give you a consultation for invisible braces for free. treatment costs vary and usually depend on the complexity of your individual treatment needs , but range from £1500-£10000.

Hi, im 21 of age and i was told right from when i was a teenager to have braces fitted due to lack of teeth not being straight and they were in and out which was embarrassing for me to smile and laugh. I never really gave it much thought at the time as i was in study and full time then went abroad and back at college it completely skipped my mind it wasn’t until 1 year from now i been recently visiting my dentist regularly i was advised to come back at every 3 months as my teeth were very sensitive and had baf teeth decay. I asked my dentist when i’m going to have my baby teeth out so i can have braces he advised me i will no longer be entitled to free braces as i’m over 18, but i told him i’m on jobseeker allowance, i don’t have any savings, no work, no one to support me either how would i pay if i am on low income based allowance. He told me to have a consultation which itself would cost me £80 pounds after that i would be told the rough amount for braces of £2000 – £3000 pounds that put me in a difficult position i would like to know if the nhs can provide me braces without of charge as my treatment as started over a year i even had a canal root done, if the nhs can support me i can support myself the half cost it will charge me.
