Q. hi i would really value your thoughts. day 1 i had a root canal day 2 and 3 no pain, fine. day 4 pain begins. day 7 i ring my dentist and i get an emergency appointment as tooth hurting. i get prescribed amoxcillin as i have a mild infection. my dentist sill want me to come back for my perm crown the next day. day 8 crown fitted. its now day 12 i am still on anti biotics and ibuprofen. my tooth has settled but if i acidentally over bite it hurts and eating on it is a def no no. MY QUESTION TO YOU SIR IS HOW LONG SHOULD I GIVE IT TO SETTLE BEFORE I SHOULD BE WORRIED? many thanks this is a great service kind regd
A. the truth of the matter is you cannot be sure it will settle as not all root canal treatments are a success. i can only guess that it was a difficult procedure as it took so many appointments to do it.
root canals can give symptoms for a yr post treatment and it is their severity that determines whether you give it time or take further action
