How long after root canal should I get crown treatment?

Q. I’ve had root canal on my upper L6. How long does this keep for before I need to go for crown treatments? I’m worried because my dentist explained the tooth is now very fragile, and I’m due to go away for a couple of months. Thanks,
A. It is better to get the tooth treated as it is in a weaker state at the moment and is prone to fracture. It really depends on how much good tooth is left. Your dentist could temporarily reduce the height of the tooth so you put less pressure on it until you can have the crown made.
