How Do I Get Rid Of The Yellowish Colour On My Teeth? Would My NHS Dentist Whiten Them?

Q.
Hi there Dr Hughes. I need your advice and help. I am 18 years old and have stained yellow teeth. My front tooth was a baby tooth and has been extracted  a few months ago and now you can see the tooth in the gum which is taking ages to come down. I was wondering how do I get rid of the yellowish colour on my teeth, I am a NHS patient. Would my dentist be able to whiten them? If so, how much would all of this cost? I hate smiling or even talking it’s just embarrassing. Hope you can help. Thank you for your time.

Hello and welcome. Elective cosmetic dental treatment is not available on the National Health Service as it is not related to ill health and not ‘necessary’. You would need to consult a dentist in your area, and you would most likely have to pay for it. If you’d like more information on the various smile options available for you, you can find it through this websites helpful guide. I hope this helps. Regards, Mark.
