How can I start my research in regards to the possibility of dental implants?

Q. Hi Riten, I am writing on behalf of my father who is 68 years of age. He has had a full set of false teeth for the past 30 years or so since his dentist recommended he have all of his teeth removed?! He has regretted taking the dentists advice ever since and has asked me to enquire into the possibility of him replacing these with implants. He lives in Lincoln and is keen to have the work done as locally as possible and I doubt he would consider anything outside of the UK. May I ask for some pointers on where to start my research, particularly systems/brands that you would recommend and also ones to avoid. Also any particular pitfalls I should look out for plus any other usefull insider knowldge including apporx cost and recommended dentists to perform the wrok. Great site by the way. Many Thanks Stuart,
A. You need to find a good implant surgeon, my preferred brand for implants is Nobel Biocare. Ask to see a porfolio of the dentist’s cases and make sure they were actually carried out by that dentist. You can also ask to speak to other patients who have had similar treatment. I hope this helps.
