How can I help settle my new filling?

Q. i went to dentist today and he said i had alot of decay under my filling that was causeing me tooth pain so he replaced with new filling but i have pain when my teeth touch what can i do to settel the new filling down and what can i do to make it not so pain ful,
A. The tooth may take a few days to settle down especially if it was a deep filling. If you feel the bite is high after a few days go back to your dentist and ask him to adjust the bite. In the mean time just use an anti inflammatory pain killer such as Ibuprofen.
