Hi, Dr Hughes. Would It Be Cheaper To Only Straighten Two Teeth With Lingual Braces?

Q.
Hi, Dr Hughes. I hope that you can help me. I was wondering if it would be possible to get lingual braces for only 2 top front teeth which have a gap in them. Would that considerably lower the costs and if so how much would it cost?

Also again, what would the costs be if the bottom incisors (only 2) were to be straightened with lingual braces? Thank you for your reply in advance.

A.
The braces have to ‘anchor’ on to other teeth so most likely 6 or 8 teeth would be bonded up to move 1 or two at the front. In some simple cases it can be 3 or 4 teeth.

Costs are lower for ‘sectional’ lingual orthodontic braces but still in the region of £2500 – £4000 per jaw depending on the system that you choose. For example, fully custom made braces such as Incognito are more expensive because they are made specifically for your individual teeth whilst the less expensive options are generic and made to fit (so they are less effective and can take longer and be more uncomfortable). So in summary the costs are determined by the quality of the brace, the complexity of your situation and the movement and the skill and experience of the dentist/orthodontist.

Regards, Mark.
