Hi Doctor! My question is that when I smile my upper gum shows and I always smile covering with my hand and I lose the confidence to smile with anyone, please kindly advise me on what the solution is? I’ve seen some of the gummy smile treatments but I wonder how much it would cost and if I wanted to have gummy smile treatment. Please kindly advise me what the procedure is and how can it be done? Gummy smiles can be caused by many things – teeth size, bone thickness, thin lips, hyperactive smile muscles etc.
So before treatment can be suggested we need to diagnose the underlying problem or combinations of problems.
Treatment options include:
Gum lift(either with just laser or with bone removal),Veneers, crowns and bonding, lip repositioning surgery, jaw bone surgery, orthodontics, botox or a combination of all of these. My advice is for you to see a cosmetic dentist who has treated lots of these cases, such as myself or my team here in Harley Street, and see what they say. Regards, Mark.
